Scrap Cloth Zakka
Scrap Cloth Zakka
I know there is another name for these types of objects in Japanese but darned if I can remember it today!
Zakka refers to miscellaneous things and that will have to do! I have made many zakka from scrap cloth over the years and have been asked many times to put together a class for this. So here it is.
It will be Zakka! Assorted, wonderful, fun! Who knows what we will make?
I’ll have samples, cloth, and all the needed tools and threads. I will make some patterns.
I recently brought that big fish to the last workshop among some smaller ones and several of you wanted to make them. Let’s do it!
On my recent trip I found another one in a used kimono remake shop in Inuyama. The gal there had made it. It’s so similar to the older one I have it made me wonder…you’ll see it, along with the many others I have collected and made over the years. If you have some, bring them!
We can also make pincushions like the ones I bring to class for you to use.
These workshops allow for a unique escape into a quiet space where needle and thread, creativity and friendships form a special weave of cloth. I get more and more feedback these days about this aspect about why we gather as we do. Speaking of weave! Let’s have me bring that loom I brought back from Tomioka last May. Why not? (Zakka!)
Workshop price includes all the necessary materials, but feel free to bring along any fabric you may want to work with. I’m looking forward to going through my favorites and bringing them for you to use!
