February Indigo and Shibori Workshop

$160.00

In this first two day indigo shibori dye workshop of 2026, we will engage in practicing basic shibori techniques along with focusing on a couple of specific techniques that can be combined to make some great designs. Over the course of this two-day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to continue exploring the artistry of indigo and shibori dyeing using a broad selection of exquisite fabrics, which will include both beautiful vintage pieces and one-of-a-kind unique textiles.

Various shibori techniques, such as itajime, arashi, nui, and others, will be practiced, catering to both new and continuing students. The focus will be on creatively combining the various techniques to produce stunning results.
Join us to enhance and refine your skills, approach shibori and indigo dyeing with a beginner's mind, and enjoy an enriching adventure in the realm of creativity!

All materials and supplies are included. If you have your own special tools or supplies, feel free to bring them along.
The workshop welcomes beginners and long time practitioners-it’s a friendly environment where beginners learn alongside experienced practitioners!

For those who want to challenge themselves, we will be focusing on two techniques and ways we can combine them into a design. The two techniques will be a variation on orinui where we will stitch along two folds at the same time (making a pleat inside) and guntai shibori, where we will overstitch various shapes to bind them making a lovely pattern inside the shapes. I'll be working on new samples before the workshop as well a some of the old favorites (like the dragonfly).
As always, beginners are welcome and will have the opportunity to try all sorts or techniques as well as the new ones.

Workshop price includes all the necessary materials, but feel free to bring along any fabric you may want to work with- just make sure it is a natural fiber (no poly, nylon or blends).

When: February 21 & 22 (Saturday and Sunday) 11:00 AM -4:00PM
