Kibiso Silk Flower
Kibiso Silk Flower
Hand made with kibiso silk yarn collected in Japan. Kibiso is the silk fiber drawn off the cocoon at the beginning of the cocoon reeling process. Not often seen here in the US or even in Japan unless you are searching for it in the right places.
The kibiso has a high amount of sericin which is the protein produced by the silkworm and acts like a glue of sorts, holding the fibers together.
The center of the flowers are made from peeled silk cocoon layers and all stitched together using more kibiso.
The pin appliance on the back is a simple barpin. About 4”.
